Flash Site Out
May 15th, 2007Websites need to look good to attract and retain traffic. To achieve this objective one of the most predominantly used technologies was Flash. Flash sites look jazzy and you can have creative animation in your site to make almost a commercial like effect. All was going well until people started feeling that the sites designed in Flash were taking too much time to download, some PC’s couldn’t view these and SEO was greatly effected by a site in flash where the search engines could not read it properly. As a result traffic started moving away from sites which were designed in Flash.
There are few more reasons why Flash sites have fallen out of the good books of designers. Flash is not considered to be a search engine friendly technology. Flash sites are sometimes complex and difficult to navigate. Hence they did not rank well with the search engine robots and humans. Flash is used to design moving objects. If you are not constantly updating your site with new movies and animations people may lose interest seeing the old animation over and over again. The point to note here is that people spend less than 30 seconds on a web page and people are tired of watching things move around, they just want to know they found the right site with the product or services they were looking for.
What is replacing flash is now the web 2.0 technology. Simple designs, clean look & great content!
